and with the holidays comes Holiday Music. There are many opportunities to see a play or hear holiday music performed. It truly is mind-boggling that there are so many concerts played during this time of year. There are middle and high school concerts, churches and other communities perform music, carolers walking through downtowns and neighborhoods. There is something for every holiday music afficiando. One in particular is this coming Saturday, the 12th, at the Howell Courthouse Ampitheatre. Schafer's House of Music is proud to sponsor the 4th annual Tuba Christmas concert. The performance will take place at 2:00 pm. Don't miss the chance to see this unique take on Christmas carols. For more information on the concert visit our website's community page and check out the story from the Detroit News.

Music for the ages
I came across an interesting article the other day. You can find the article here. It truly is amazing just how universal music is to society. 35,000 years ago we were making music just like we are today. Music truly is a communication that transcends the normal language barriers that exist today. Interested in trying music? Give us a call to set up lessons (517-546-2040) or check our website for more information.

Music is life!
I believe that music IS life. I know that may seem extreme, yet I think the importance of music is often overlooked. Think about a typical day day for you. How much of the day is spent with music in the background? I bet that a great majority of your day is spent listening to music. I bet that music is played on the car radio (even if it is a talk radio station) and commercials use music to help reinforce the product being advertised. How many of us can sing the theme song to a favorite television show? Have you ever watched part of movie with the music removed? If that music was suddenly turned off you would take notice. Music is a part of who we are and something that we all share and love. Here at Schafer's we help to spread that love of music through education in our lesson program. I can not think of another thing in the world that can unite people with from different backgrounds quicker than music.

Shopping Habits
Why do we buy products from one store over another similar store? Is it simply price or convenience or is it more about the intangibles of the experience? Are we persuaded by the ambiance of the store and the friendliness of the staff? The staff at Schafer's is dedicated to customer satisfaction. We strive to treat each and every person with the utmost respect. Our approach is to meet the needs of our customers. We ask questions to better understand those needs and to offer the best recommendation. We do not believe in talking the customer into a more expensive product simply to increase profit. We recommend the product that will satisfy the customer for the lowest possible price. Additionally, if we do not have a product that can help the customer we refer the customer to another store! When was the last time you were at a store and the salesman actually cared enough about meeting your needs that he refers you to a store that can actually help?

Schafer's joins the social networking world!
The old saying goes "You can't teach and old dog new tricks", but here at Schafer's that is exactly what we are trying to do. After years of doing things the same way everyday because that's the way we have always done them, we have started pages on Facebook and Myspace, in addition to, launching a new website. Yes times are changing here at Schafer's, however the one thing that will never change is our committment to the community. So, in the meantime check us out on Facebook and Myspace or stop by our new website. Hope to see you all soon!
